It has been far too long since I have posted a new entry. In that time period I missed a Cowboys game. Hopefully that will never happen again, so here goes.
For homecoming this year, my hometown team, the Tigers, played the Cougars. The school coined catchphrase for the game? "It's going to be a Catfight!" Not quite the greatest phrase thought of, no biggie there though. The game made up for it.
The game was a fair fight between the teams. Both teams came out with the purpose to win it, and made for an amazing game. The Cougars started the game off with a quick touchdown, quickly putting the Tigers down 0-7 within the first minute. Don't think the game is going to be a cake walk as the Tigers Answered with an +80 yard screen pass for a touchdown. The Cougars next drive ended up in an interception in which the Tigers capitalized off of and scored making the game 14-7.
4th quarter. The Cougars have pulled ahead and taken the lead 21-28. With only a few minutes remaining in the game, it looks as if the book is about to be closed on this one. The Tigers defense comes up with a game changing stop before the Cougars can end it. Shortly after that, the Tigers deftly march down the field to score and send the game into overtime.
For highschool overtime rules in Minnesota you start on the 10 and have 4 downs to somehow score. The Cougars score and get the extra point making the game 28-35. The Tigers look down and out when they score. Big question here, take the extra point, going into double overtime, or go for two, ending the game here and now. In my personal opinion we should have gone for one and go into double overtime and then play to win, but we went for two. Pass play to the right side of the endzone. Caught!! The game is won, but no. The reciever was ruled out of bounds. Making the final score 34-35 Cougars over Tigers.

Top 5 Weirdest Town Names
Ok throughout my life I have been to quite a few different states and seen some peculiar town names, so I decided to make a list of, in my mind, some of the weirdest of them all.
5. Metropolis, Illinois
By sheer coincidence this town which had its name chosen in 1839 has centered the town's focus on Superman, the town where his adventures take place. Metropolis has its downtown dedicated to the super hero, with a 20 foot statue of him right in front of their courthouse. Talk about a tribute to Truth, Justice, The American Way.
4. DISH, Texas
This town sacrificed its old name, Clark, for the new one DISH. They did this in exchange for every resident of DISH recieved free basic television service for ten years and a free DVR from DISH Network. Not one person in the town opposed the name change. I mean Free DISH Network? Who wouldn't take it.
3. Effingham, Illinois
Illinois sure has a way of picking the cities names. This town was name came from a courageous cause instead of free satellite TV. In 1859, shortly after the first big population boom, the residents changed the name in honor of a British lord who refused to fight the colonists in the American Revolution.
2. Forsyth, Georgia
This small town is quaint and almost spooky at night. Although its name is interesting, this town doesn't have much of an interesting history. Maybe its future will hold a different story.

Excelsior was founded in 1853 by colonists from New York. This small town is a mere 20 minutes from the heart of Minneapolis, but at the same time it still holds on to historic surroundings and blends together the old and the new, making it a peaceful town.

A Day to Remember Forever
September 11, 2001.
What more can be said about this day other than it was a terrible, terrible day. Sometimes I still wonder why the terrorists did it, and although they claim many different reasons, we may never know the true reason. Looking back at this day, it still changes my outlook on life.
I can't even imagine what it feels like for those who lost loved ones in the crashes and accidents. As you continue to live your life you will always have to live with grief, you are not alone. We the People of the United States are all in this together. We care for each other, and even though we have our differences, we are united in all we do, and should be proud of that. We all share the same ideal and mindset of freedom.
We all have the privilege of having the rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. So those of you downtrodden and depressed, I support you, as do others, and in this support we give to each other, we show we care for each other and we come together as one people, and that's why I'm proud to be an American.

Football Sunday Cowboys vs. Browns
First blog post! Whew.. As you may find out as you read and follow my blog, thoughts, and opinions, I want to let you know a few things up front:
1. I'm a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
2. Football is the greatest sport ever.
3. I like to keep things fair and unbiased.
4. I'll cover a variety of topics from football to current events to a personal event here or there.
I don't know if you pay attention to the National Football League (NFL) but the season started for many teams this last Sunday, and my team happened to play the Cleveland Browns. Last year the Browns showed they are a rebuilding team with a decent year after several bad years. The Cowboys last year had one of the best records in the league and went to the playoffs.
On This particular opening Sunday I found several things interesting. One being the fact that the offensive line for the Cowboys has struggled for a year or two, and when the ball was first snapped, not a single person got close to Tony Romo our quarter back (QB). It was amazing! The offensive line played an amazing game. Marion Barber who is our running back (RB) came out and showed he is still a powerful RB. The Cowboys receivers came out and proved to everyone why they have some of the bigger/better statistics in the whole league. The defense did there part and shut the Browns down to a mere 10 points. The team coming together shows why Dallas is such a powerhouse team in the NFL.
The Browns didn't have a bad game by any means. Their team is still "meshing" and starting to work together. One thing they could work on is their run defense, as the Cowboys had two rushing touchdowns. Other teams watch out for them later in the season, as they may become a playoff contender. Overall it was a great game to watch, and both teams grew a little bit more from it.
