NFL this Season
The NFL can be described in one word. Bonkers. Many elite teams are struggling at various points. The supposed "Super Bowl Contenders" have suffered various fates this season. Last week was the end of the last undefeated teams as the Titans crumbled to the New York Jets led by Brett Favre. For the past couple of years you could usually accurately who would win. Who would lose. This year an old phrase has really resurfaced. 'On any given Sunday.' Rivalry's renewed and teams revitalized. We will have to keep watch of how the rest of the season will turn out. It could turn out to be one heck of a season.
Iowa Hawkeyes
The Iowa Hawkeyes, my favorite college football team has had an up and down season. They started the season off strong winning games 42-3 and 48-0. Their season got a little rocky in the middle. They started to lose heartbreakers to teams by 1-2 points.
The Hawks began to rally as they turned the losses around and even beat the then number three team Penn State, with a last second field goal for the win. The Hawkeyes now find their recond at 8-4 awaiting they announcment of which bowl they will be competing in.
That brings me to my next topic. The Bowl Championship Series (BCS). I along with many other people thing it is outdated and needs to be changed. The ranking system is very subjective, and I think it should be done by wins and losses. That makes the most sense to me because Iowa who is unranked has a record of 8-4 and other teams who are the same record and even worse are ranked in the top twenty five. Iowa beat a top 25 team and it proves that they have the potential to be a very competitive team. College should be moving toward a playoff system and not the BCS.
